Youth Parliament is a political program that empowers young people to be advocates for their community!
In order to develop democratic ethos in the younger generation, a ‘Youth Parliament’ session was recently organized for the students of grades 7 and 8 at Presidium, Dwarka 22. The Presidians participated excitedly and came well-prepared for the event wearing khadi kurta-pyjamas, saris and salwar suits. Dressed as parliamentarians, they matched the ambience of the event and seemed extremely confident about their roles.
The session started with the opening speech by the President, wherein he welcomed the respected members of the parliament and made a fervent appeal to all of them to make a fruitful discussion on various uprising issues today. The new members of parliament took oaths in Hindi, English, Gujarati and Sanskrit languages, which showcased the spirit of ‘unity in diversity’ in our country. Thereafter, question hour started, in which the opposition raised questions related to the problems faced by the citizens. During the entire session, the leaders of tomorrow performed and debated with exemplary enthusiasm and learnt about the working of Parliament. Offering the leaders of tomorrow the opportunity to create solutions to the problems with a healthy debate, this academic simulation of Indian Parliament empowered them to take stand for what they believe in.
