To make children familiar about cooking without lighting a fire, young learners from grade Prep tried their hands on cooking without fire. They discovered that cooking can be creative, easy and a safe experience. The students were bifurcated in their respective clubs and our budding chefs made various food items like fruit salad, sandwich, sprouts, bhel puri, papri chat and few refreshing drinks such as lemonade and mocktails which are energising and fortifying during the scorching heat. The activity was conducted with a view to create awareness about the nutritional value of food cooked without fire, prepared with great ease independently. The event not only provided a platform for the students to enhance their creativity and decision making skills but also helped them to explore their hidden talents and discover new areas of interest.

PRESIDIANS LEARN THE IMPORTANCE OF PROVIDING SHELTER TO ANIMALS
“Animals are sentient, intelligent, perceptive, funny and entertaining. We owe them a duty of care as we do to children.” - Michael Morpurgo
Animals, like humans, need a place which they can call ‘Home’, to provide a safe and stable place to raise a family. Under the TBL theme - Home, our students of grade 1 realised their duty of care and understood the importance of providing shelters to animals through a fun activity. They created beautiful pet houses such as a kennel for dogs, a bird nest for birds and so on. They also learnt about the habitat of different animals. They showcased their creative piece of art in front of the whole class and shared their likes and dislikes about their respective pet houses along with its specific features.
OUR 'HANDS ON' LEARNERS BECOME ADEPT IN BLANCHING VEGETABLES
“We must see, hear, smell, touch and yes, taste to form the kinds of complex association that makes up true understanding. We humans are direct ‘hands on’ learners.” -Laura Grace Weldon
Keeping this thought in mind, the young Presidians of grade 5 were given hands on experience to blanch vegetables as a part of PBL theme ‘Food Preservation’. The students were explained the meaning of blanching as a cooking process wherein a food item, usually a vegetable or fruit, is scalded in boiling water, removed after a timed interval, and finally plunged into iced water or placed under cold running water to halt the cooking process and mellow down the growth of microorganisms. The students did the process with peas and followed the steps accordingly. A thorough discussion followed after the process, where they brainstormed about the benefits of blanching.
RECAPITULATING MATHEMATICAL CONCEPTS THROUGH TAMBOLA ACTIVITY
“Pure mathematics is, in it's way, the poetry of logical ideas.” -Albert Einstein.
Mathematics provides us with an ability to reason, identify patterns and solve problems through the application of logic. Math games and activities can give the child’s learning, a boost in many ways and help him engage with numbers from a young age. With the same purpose, our grade 2 facilitators organized a ‘Mathematical Tambola’ game for students where the numbers were called out in an inconsistent way to make them apply logical inferences and guess the number using mental math. Students applied their understanding of various concepts like tens-ones, addition, subtraction, odd-even, etc. For instance, number 57 was called out as ‘5 tens and 7 ones’. This fun filled game helped students to recapitulate various mathematical concepts and develop their problem-solving skills.

YOUNG LEADERS CALL FOR 'YOUTH EMPOWERMENT' AT PMUN 2018
“The United Nations is our one great hope for a peaceful and free world.” -Ralph Bunche
We at Presidium, have recognized the importance of UN and have guided not only our Presidians but students from other schools through PMUN. PMUN’s endeavour has been to help the student fraternity to believe that all human beings are born free & equal in dignity and rights. The Inter Branch PMUN 2018 session was conducted recently wherein the students of Presidium got together to discuss on the theme ‘Youth Empowerment’. We believe that empowering today’s youth is very important to ensure a bright future for the upcoming generations. Thus, this theme aimed to tackle a large portion of potential problems that can only be regarded as risks for now. This year we had five committees - UNHRC, UNEA, UNSC, UNCD & UNW. It was a proud moment to see students following the proceedings and handling the situations perfectly with their skills and knowledge. The Delegates and Executive Board were showered with blessings and recognition for their participation. The selective ones were applauded for their good work and received certificates by the Vice Principal.
